Nikki started sailing her freshman year of college at the University of Miami. 92lbs at the time, she was the light air specialist of the team, and went to nationals her senior year while running the team as its president. After college, she joined the Snipe class while living between South Florida and New Jersey. She remains most active in the Snipe class as a crew, and has had the privilege of crewing for sailing legends like Rolex Yachtsman Augie Diaz and SSL USA Tactitian and Pan American Champion Ernesto Rodriguez. Nikki also sails frequently in the Etchells class, competing in their USA winter series the past four years and sailed in their World Championship this past year in Miami as a bow specialist, placing in the top third. She´s also very active in the J70 class where she currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland. Since moving to Annapolis three years ago she has received local accolades, earning membership to the Spinsheet Century Club and Racing Team each year by racing sailboats more than 100 days per year. Nikki and a small group of other sailors also recently formed a non-profit, SafeSail (safesail.org) to combat harassment and abuse in the sport of sailing. When she is not sailing, she works remotely as an academic coach and college counselor, having her own business, Student Coaching Services (studentcoachingservices.com), building off of her past experience as a school teacher and sailing coach to help students succeed in school, earn admission to competitive colleges, and help aspiring college sailors choose their best fit schools.
